Role: Videographer

This position will be responsible for the development and execution of video content and still assets to cover and support various campaigns/initiatives undertaken by Mindstorm Studios. Successful candidates must be able to translate complex topics into compelling video content to portray and deliver the message at hand. Overall, we are looking for a highly creative individual capable of ideating, shooting, editing footage to create content that can tell a cohesive story.

What will you be doing?

  • Research, write, ideate, creative and original quality visual content and compelling stories for multiple platforms supported by a strong narrative and story building capabilities.
  • Plan, shoot, edit, and deliver video and photo content that is engaging and supports the company’s ethos, initiatives, marketing and promotional efforts. 
  • Setup and teardown cameras, audio recorders, lighting, microphones, and props necessary for video production. Audio post production experience is a plus (recording, mixing, scoring, etc.) 
  • Prepare background film or “B” rolls as well as live feed.
  • Superb editing and post-production qualities to make impactful content. This includes but is not limited to practicing empathy (being able to understand people and how they convey emotion), excellent sense of pace and timing, cuts and transitions, computer graphics, ability to work with audio, colour grades, and visual effects, inserting closed captioning and text, etc.
  • Ample web knowledge to support posting produced videos on various digital channels. Types of videos range from promos, podcasts, live events, testimonials, executive interviews, documentaries, “how to” product demos, announcements, etc. Videos will be used in various media including company website, blog, and social media platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the production process and expand the reach of Mindstorm Studios video content.
  • Working with the team and associated collaborators to create film or video products.

What are we looking for ?

  • A candidate who can work full time and in-person.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Media, Film, Digital Media Production, or equivalent is beneficial but not a dealbreaker. If you think you're up for the task, please do apply.
  • 0-2 years of proven work experience in video recording and editing (fresh candidates can also apply).
  • Ability to generate quality ideas on engagement and growth of community.
  • Knowledge of camera (pro/semi pro), additional video recording devices as well as video editing software (e.g. Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects, etc)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, responsive environment that practices agile principles of management. 
  • Good knowledge of social media, audience engagement, and share-worthy content.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team
  • Comfortable in conversing and working with various levels of management. 
  • Animation design skills and previous experience in documentary making are a plus.
  • A deeper understanding of inclusivity and access to knowledge for everyone.
  • Passion for creating sustainable impact.
  • Exceptional self-organization skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines under pressure and with minimal supervision.
