Since its inception, M-Labs has played a pivotal role in supporting socio-economic growth in Pakistan by creating a thriving game-centric ecosystem. With a mission to leverage the potential of the creative technology sector and democratize access to information, M-Labs analyzes a multitude of factors to design interventions that foster innovation and drive the country's transition towards a knowledge-driven economy.

Role: Program Manager

As a Program Manager at M-Labs, you'll be a vital part of our collaborative team, driving initiatives to propel the game development landscape forward in Pakistan. Working closely with our dynamic team, you'll contribute to a diverse range of projects aimed at empowering talent, fostering industry-academia synergy, and expanding opportunities for game developers across the country. From strategic outreach to event management and partnership cultivation, your contributions will be instrumental in advancing M-Labs' mission and catalyzing the growth of the game development community in Pakistan.

What you will be doing:

  • Initiative Management (40%):
    • Strategic Outreach, Partnership Building, and Community Management: Develop and implement plans to engage stakeholders, form partnerships, and manage Pakistan's largest game development Discord community. Coordinate events, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring seamless execution and fostering community growth. Design initiatives to attract and support students interested in game development, monitoring effectiveness using data-driven approaches to optimize outcomes.
  • Academic and Industry Engagement (20%):
    • University Partnerships and Industry Collaboration: Forge strategic partnerships with universities to integrate game development education into curricula. Facilitate collaboration between industry professionals and academia to promote skill development.
    • International Cooperation: Cultivate partnerships with global game development players to leverage expertise and best practices.
    • Capacity Building: Develop programs to enhance the skills of game developers and stakeholders.
  • Grants and Fundraising (15%):
    • Grant Identification and Proposal Development: Identify funding opportunities and prepare compelling grant proposals aligning with donor priorities. Collaborate with partner organizations to strengthen applications and ensure compliance with requirements.
    • Partnership Development and Compliance: Work with partners to leverage resources and expertise, maintaining transparency and accountability in financial and programmatic matters.
  • Research and Knowledge Management (10%):
    • Ecosystem Analysis and Knowledge Dissemination: Research and analyze the game development ecosystem in Pakistan, identifying gaps and opportunities. Disseminate findings through publications and presentations to facilitate learning and innovation.
    • Data Management: Establish robust systems to collect, analyze, and disseminate data related to the game development ecosystem, ensuring integrity and confidentiality.
  • Public Relations and Communication (10%):
    • Stakeholder Engagement and Public Awareness: Cultivate positive relationships with stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration. Raise public awareness about the game development industry through media outreach, events, and digital campaigns.

What would be your targets:

  • Conduct/manage 8 game jams in a calendar year.
  • Work on 5 proposal writing grants in a calendar year.
  • Contribute to monthly podcasts, LinkedIn, and other online content creation initiatives.
  • Organize monthly outreach sessions in partnership with different stakeholders to enhance engagement and collaboration within the game development ecosystem.
  • Provide assistance on 20 Final Year Projects (FYP) in a calendar year, guiding students through ideation, development, and post-production stages to ensure successful project completion.
  • Participate in at least one research project in a calendar year, contributing insights and expertise to advance knowledge within the game development field.
  • Establish partnerships with at least 10 stakeholders, emphasizing the promotion of game building in Pakistan through collaborative initiatives and resource-sharing, like MOU signing with universities.

What are we looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (you can be from any major).
  • 3+ years of experience in building and managing communities/project management.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent project management and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team.
  • Self-motivated, dedicated, and capable of multitasking.
  • Leadership qualities with a long-term vision.
  • Experience in the developmental sector or NGO sector is advantageous.
